#2 Tampa Spikes Lynn As Dixon Moves Within Five of 1,000 Kills
Tampa, Fla. - The second-ranked University of Tampa volleyball team cruised to a three-game sweep of Lynn to improve to 24-1 on the season and 10-1 in the Sunshine State Conference.
Junior Katelen Dixon recorded nine kills and now stands at 995 on her career. The Clearwater native now needs just five kills to become the 13th player in UT history to reach the milestone. Stephanie Rivera, who reached 1,000 kills earlier in the season, led the Spartans with 14 kills and a .400 hitting percentage.
Gabriela Saade and Amy Rumore both had double figures in assists as Saade totaled 20 and Rumore 16. Margeaux Sinibaldi was the team leader with 12 digs as Saade also added two service aces. Tampa, who registered eight team blocks, was led by Danielle MacDonald, who totaled three total blocks as Rivera, Alisha Green and Neely Thomson were all credited with two apiece.
Tampa is back in action tomorrow as it hosts Nova Southeastern. The match is slated to begin at 2:00 pm in the Bob Martinez Sports Center.
