Spartans Set to Host Florida Tech on Senior Night
Tampa Volleyball welcomes the Panthers of Florida Tech in a match celebrating the team's seniors.
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa is set to host SSC foe Florida Tech, tomorrow, November 10 at 7 p.m. in the Bob Martinez Athletics Center. The team will be honoring five seniors and their accomplishments, so make sure you come out to support.
The Match: University of Tampa (14-13, 9-7 SSC) vs. Florida Tech (9-13, 4-12 SSC)

Last Time Out: The University of Tampa defeated the Embry-Riddle Eagles in three sets. Nicole Dominguez led the Spartans to victory with 13 kills followed by Taylor Fosler with 11. Setter Sammy Mueller ended the night having earned a double-double, with 43 assists and 10 digs. Mueller did a really nice job of distributing the ball to multiple attackers and establishing them early in the match. At libero, freshman Kaitlyn Ajmani suited up, logging a team-high of 15 digs for the Spartans. The Spartans defeated the Eagles in a clean sweep, with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, and 25-20.
About the Spartans: The Spartans are led offensively by sophomore outside hitter, Nicole Dominguez. Dominguez currently sits with 289 kills on the season, averaging 2.95 kills per set at a .174 kill percentage. Following Dominguez on offense are the efforts of Sorrel Houghton, Nylah Demps, and Taylor Fosler, with 280, 229, and 227 kills respectively. Dominguez also currently leads the team on defense with 279 digs, followed by freshman Kaitlyn Ajmani with 214. Sophomore Sammy Mueller acts as the Spartan's starting setter and has 743 assists during this year's campaign, in addition to her 160 digs.
About the Panthers: The Panthers are currently 9-13 overall, 4-12 in the SSC. Offensively, Florida Tech is led by middle blocker Olivia Hersey who currently has 223 and averages 2.65 kills per set. Following Hersey, is outside hitter Kelly Germain who has logged 185 kills and has an average kill percentage of .120. Kiersten Rosa acts as the Panthers primary setter with 587 assists, while Kyra Atkinson is the team's defensive leader with 403 digs this season.
Series History: Tampa takes the all-time series history against Florida Tech 82-0. The first time the two teams met was in October of 1975 and the Spartans have never lost since.
Tickets: General Admission ticket prices for all Tampa regular season athletic events are $5 for adults and $3 for Seniors, Military and visiting students. Youth (ages 12 and under) are admitted free of charge.
