Sammy Mueller Earns Sunshine State Conference Setter of the Week
Sammy Mueller was tabbed the Sunshine State Conference Setter of the Week for the period spanning Nov 13-19.
MELBOURNE, Fla. – After running the Spartan's offense to a 3-0 week, University of Tampa volleyball sophomore setter Sammy Mueller was tabbed the Sunshine State Conference Setter of the Week for the period spanning Nov. 13-19, as announced by the conference office on Monday. This marks the second player of the week honor for the Spartans this season and is Mueller's first time receiving the honor in her career.
The 5'9" sophomore posted 134 assists across three matches, averaging 11.17 per set. In UT's match against the Eckerd Tritons, Mueller had 47 assists, six digs, and three kills. Additionally, in the match, she contributed two blocks for UT. Mueller then earned two double-doubles over the weekend in the Spartans final SSC competitions. First, against the Barry University Buccaneers, the sophomore logged 50 assists and 10 digs in addition to earning a service ace. Then, at Nova Southeastern University, Mueller recorded 37 assists and 14 digs in the sweep over the Sharks. In this match, the team hit .429 off of Mueller's sets.
The Gainesville, Fla. native has played in all but three matches this season by UT. She has recorded eight double-doubles this season and is sixth in the SSC in assists with 906. In addition, she sits with 199 digs, 28 kills and 16 service aces on the season.
The Spartans conclude the regular season with an overall record of 18-13, they are 13-7 in the SSC.
