Bio

Lisa Godwin is in her second season as a volunteer assistant coach for the University of Tampa. She received her bachelor of arts in English from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia, before working as the grad assistant and earning her master’s in school counseling from Northern Kentucky University.

In her first season as a Spartan, she helped aid the 2018 squad to a Sunshine State Conference Co-Championship, an NCAA South Regional Championship, and most importantly, an NCAA Division II National Championship. 

During her time as an undergrad, Lisa played volleyball at Oglethorpe University from 2011-2014 where she was a middle for the Stormy Petrels. In addition to being a captain her senior season, she received a plethora of academic and sportsmanship awards.

Godwin returned to her alma mater in August of 2017 where she spent one season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Her various responsibilities included but were not limited to organizing and executing all aspects of team travel, creating monthly newsletters, leading all alumni outreach efforts, and scouting upcoming opponents.

Once returning to Atlanta, she returned to coaching club at A5 Volleyball Club, where she coached during her playing years. In her first stint at A5, Lisa was a part of the first three team in A5 history to qualify for USAV Nationals. The following year she was promoted to a head coach. During her second season as a head coach (A5 17-3), her team won the Bluegrass Pre-Qualifier in the 17 Club division and qualified for USAV Nationals in the American division. She has trained numerous athletes who have since gone to play at all levels in the NCAA.

Lisa currently resides in Bradenton, Florida and is married to husband, Jake Godwin.
