Bio

Cody Liner just finished his sixth season as a member of the UT volleyball coaching staff. The graduate student received his undergraduate degree in sports management with a concentration in marketing. Liner plans to start a career in the sports world working in the operations and the marketing departments.

In 2018, he helped the Spartans accomplish their third National Championship in program history. The team was also Sunshine State Conference Co-Champions, and the 2018 South Regional Champions. 

In his third season with the Spartans, Liner was responsible for statistical input using Data Volley in addition to assisting with practice. He helped guide the 2015 Spartans to their 25th Sunshine State Conference Championship and the 11th consecutive crown.

In his second season at UT, the Spartans captured the 2014 national championship with a 3-0 sweep over Southwest Minnesota State in the title match. UT was 34-1 on the season, which included a perfect 16-0 showing in the Sunshine State Conference. Additionally, Berkley Whaley was honored as the National Player of the Year as he coached alongside National Coach of the Year Chris Catanach.

Liner is from Virginia Beach, Va., where he graduated from First Colonial High School with an Advanced Diploma. He served as Senior Class President and captain of the men’s varsity volleyball team during his senior year. He was a member of the First Colonial volleyball team all four years of his high school career.

Liner played club volleyball starting at 14 years old. He helped his teams make it to the junior national tournament through his third year playing at Seven Cities Volleyball Club. During his senior year, he accepted a position to become a volunteer assistant coach for the Coastal Junior Boy’s 17 National Volleyball Team, who also reached the national tournament.  Recently, he joined the coaching staff at Tampa Bay One, a local volleyball club under Assistant Coach Jeff Lamm.
