Spartans Place Two on All-SSC Team
Claudia Cancello and Thea Ramsey were among those named to the all-conference team.
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Claudia Cancello and Thea Ramsey each represented the University of Tampa as the Sunshine State Conference announced its All-SSC Women's Cross Country teams on Tuesday.
Cancello highlights the repeat all-SSC winners with her fourth consecutive selection. She has been UT's top finisher in four of its five races this season. She also has two top-three finishes along with four top-10 efforts as a senior.
Ramsey has been another consistent performer as the sophomore was 10th at the 2016 SSC Championships. She was the Spartans top finisher at the Pre-Conference race to open 2016 and has been first or second on the team in three races this season.
Saint Leo University was awarded four women's cross country all-SSC honors following its second conference championship in program history. In total, seven student-athletes were named to the 2016 All-SSC team. Voting for the team was conducted among the league's cross country coaches.
Colett Rampf of Saint Leo University is named Sunshine State Conference Runner of the Year for the third consecutive year. Rampf, a junior from Premnitz, Germany, becomes the eighth SSC athlete to win a Player of the Year award three times*. She joins Allison Macsas (Tampa, 2003-05) as the only cross country athletes to win the top award three times. Rampf earns the all-SSC award for the third straight year; while teammate Alyssa Bayliff repeats as an all-SSC selection from 2015.
Kent Reiber is selected Coach of the Year after leading Saint Leo to the programs second conference championship in three years. It is the first Coach of the Year selection for Reiber, second for the Lions. Allison Wright of Florida Southern College has been selected Freshman of the Year.
