Jessica Hernandez Leads Spartans at NCAA Championships in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The University of Tampa women's cross country team competed at the 2024 NCAA Division II Championships, finishing 30th overall. The Spartans were competing at the championships for the third straight season, and 18th in the history of the program. The women's 6K was held at Arcade Creek Cross Country Course in Sacramento, Calif.
Adams State wins the 2024 DII women's cross country championship with a score of 61 points. West Texas A&M came in second and CSU-Pueblo took third. Lauren Kiley of Grand Valley State won the women's 6k with a time of 20:28.5. A total of 34 teams ran at the event.
Top Tampa Runners
- Jessica Hernandez was the fastest Spartan runner, finishing the 6K with a time of 22:53.6 for 145th place.
- Lindsey Volkman followed in 169th place with a time of 23:15.3.
- Tabitha Suggs clocked a time of 23:29.9 to finish 178th.
- Taylor Guthrie was 180th with a time of 23:30.2.
- Finishing fifth for Tampa and 190th overall was Emily Kriney at 23:43.5.
- Freshmen Mary Richmond (191st, 23:43.7) and Hannah Diete (214th, 24:38.4) also ran for head coach Logan Wells.
