Tampa Baseball Adds Seven for 2021 Season
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa baseball team will receive five transfers and two high schoolers who signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI). The student-athletes will be eligible to compete for the Spartans in the spring of 2021.
Head coach Joe Urso adds Ethan Brown (LHP), Macallister Jorgensen (SS), Kian Knutson (OF), Eric Linder (RHP), Jamarcus Lyons (OF), Carlos Salaverria (OF) and Nicholas Winkelmeyer (SS).
Following is information on the seven players.
Ethan Brown
Attended Seminole State College his freshman year…He is 6'3" and weighs 180 pounds...Pitched 24.0 innings and recorded 25 strikeouts in his freshman season...Recorded one win and two saves for the season as a relief pitcher.
Macallister Jorgensen
Attends Riverview High School in Riverview, Fla., where he plays for former Tampa assistant Chris Cates…He is 5'7" and weighs 165 pounds...Hit .400 his junior year...Posted a .574 on-base percentage and led his team with 26 hits and 31 runs.
Kian Knutson
Attends Tampa Catholic High School in Tampa, where he plays for coach Ty Griffin...He is 6'0" and weighs 185 pounds...Hit .309 with 21 hits in 22 games in his junior year.
Eric Linder
Attended College of Central Florida his freshman year…He is 6'2" and weighs 212 pounds…Pitched and started in eight games last season and ended with a record of 4-2 with an ERA of 2.25...Threw 40.0 innings, throwing 45 strikeouts in that span.
Jamarcus Lyons
Attended State College of Florida his freshman year... He is 5'9" and weighs 210 pounds...Attended King High School in Tampa, where he totaled 101 hits in his high school career and had a career batting average of .309, playing in 122 games.
Carlos Salaverria
Attended College of Central Florida his freshman year...He is 5'11" and weighs 164 pounds...Hit .343 last season and was third on his team in hits with 62…Attended Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Fla.
Nicholas Winkelmeyer
Attended State College of Florida his freshman year... He is 5'10" and weighs 170 pounds...Hit .317 last season and recorded a .397 on-base percentage...Attended Sarasota High School in Sarasota, Fla., where he hit .368 and led his team in hits with 39.
