Spartans Defeated by Tars
The University of Tampa men's basketball team battled the Tars and fell short of a victory.
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's basketball team hosted the Rollins College Tars and were defeated 88-69.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | The game started with the Spartans scoring first with a basket made by Pat Bacon, the first four points of the game were scored by the Spartans. The Tars made a quick comeback with six unanswered points. The teams were trading leads back and forth for much of the first ten minutes. In the first ten minutes Matt Johnson had 7 of the Spartans 13 points scored. Freddy Ibrahim three pointer gave the Spartans back the lead with just over seven minutes left in the half. A fast break layup gave Rollins a 26 to 23 lead with around six minutes to play in the half. The Tars extended their lead to 35-29 with just over two minutes left in the half. The Tars took a five point lead into the half.
2nd Half | The Half opened up with a slam dunk by Marcel Robinson for the Spartans. Five minutes into the half Rollins extended its lead to seven with a two point basket. The Tars looked to be in complete control for the first ten minutes of the half. Rollins drained a three pointer near the ten minute mark to open up a twelve point lead. The Spartans were chasing Rollins the entire half seeming to fall behind more as time went on. With 8 minutes left to play the Spartans trailed 66- 50. The Tars had a 74 -53 lead with five minutes left to play in the game. Pat Bacon had a three pointer for the Spartans in the final two minutes of the game.

- Marcel Robinson was the leading scorer for the Spartans with 14 points.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- This was the second meeting between the two schools with the Spartans winning the first meeting.
