Spartans Seventh at Jay Jennison Cup
ST AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team turned in a strong showing at the Jay Jennison Cup, finishing 7th out of 18 teams with a total score of 869 (+5) at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla. The Spartans opened with an impressive 283 (-5) in the first round before closing with rounds of 294 and 292.
With two players finishing in the top 20 and A.J. Hovermale earning a top-15 placement, the Spartans continued to build momentum in the fall season. Their balanced lineup showed flashes of strong scoring against a deep field, highlighted by multiple opening-round 70s.
The field was highly competitive, with Rollins (-16) claiming the team championship, narrowly edging Flagler (-13) and Eckerd (-9).

A.J. Hovermale – t-14th (69–75–71 – 215, -1)
Hovermale paced Tampa with a steady three-round effort that included a sparkling first-round 69. He was the only Spartan to finish under par for the week, placing inside the top 15 of a field of nearly 100 players. -
Mohit Balaji – t-19th (70–73–74 – 217, +1)
Balaji followed up his individual medalist win at the Hurricane Invitational with another strong performance. His opening 70 (-2) helped keep Tampa near the top of the leaderboard early, and he finished just two shots behind Hovermale. -
Kyle Honer – t-35th (70–75–74 – 219, +3)
Honer's tournament was highlighted by a first-round 70, his lowest score of the season to date. He provided valuable depth to Tampa's lineup, finishing inside the top half of the leaderboard. -
Carl Gustin – t-52nd (75–73–73 – 221, +5)
Gustin produced back-to-back 73s in the final two rounds, showing consistency and helping the Spartans solidify their top-10 team finish. -
Louis Galvin (individual) – t-52nd (76–72–73 – 221, +5)
Competing as an individual, Galvin's second-round 72 (E) was his best of the tournament and kept him level with Gustin in the standings. -
Linus Landahl – t-68th (74–73–77 – 224, +8)
Landahl's best round came on day one with a 73, and he closed the event at +8 overall.
