Final Day of Copperhead Championships See Tampa Rise in Standings
PALM HARBOR, Fla. — The University of Tampa men's golf team wrapped up play at the Copperhead Championship on Tuesday, finishing 16th overall in a highly competitive 17-team field at the Innisbrook Copperhead Course. Facing a field stacked with nationally ranked programs, the Spartans posted rounds of 308, 304, and 300 for a 54-hole team total of 912 (+60).
Tampa steadily improved throughout the two-day event, trimming eight strokes from their opening round to close with their best team score of 300 in the final round. Competing against several of the top programs in Division II, the Spartans showed resilience on the challenging Copperhead layout — a course known for its tight fairways and fast greens.
West Florida claimed the team title with a commanding 11-under-par total, while Grand Valley State (+0) and Lee (+2) rounded out the top three.
Top Tampa Performers

Kyle Honer led the Spartans with a three-round score of 226 (+13) to finish tied for 53rd. Honer closed strong with a team-best final-round 71, marking Tampa's lowest score of the tournament.

Carl Gustin followed at 228 (+15), highlighted by a steady even-par stretch midway through his second round to earn a tie for 67th.

Louis Galvin delivered a strong finish with a final-round 73, moving up to a tie for 75th at 230 (+17).

Mohit Balaji contributed a middle-round 73 en route to a 231 (+18) total (T-79th).
