Rick Christie served 27 seasons as the head coach of the University of Tampa golf team. He came to the Spartans from the University of South Florida Golf Course. He was their assistant manager. The 1970 South Florida graduate held his USF post since 1972. In that span, he served as the women’s head golf coach and produced four professionals, including Dale Eggeling.

Coach Christie has also served as the personal instructor to touring pro and 1990 PGA Player of the Year Wayne Levi since 1972. Christie recently coached Brian Ward, who was the 2005 SSC Golfer of the Year. In addition to Christie's duties at UT, he also serves as an instructor to several professional golfers throughout the country while performing several instructional clinics.
