Dickerson and Wood Earn Player of the Week Honors
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Jack Wood and Ross Dickerson have earned Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week honors after their performance last Friday against Saint Leo.
Jack Wood takes home SSC Offensive Player of the Week honors as the Sophomore from Duxbury, Massachusetts tallied seven points in UT's 24-8 victory over Saint Leo. Wood did it all for Tampa in the season opener against nationally-ranked Saint Leo. He would finish the game with seven points, as he would dish out five assists and would score two goals. Along with the seven points, he would continuously find himself around the ball as he was able to pick up five groundballs.
Ross Dickerson picked up where he left off last season, as the senior would dominate the face-offs against #20 Saint Leo. Dickerson was 19-21 on faceoff attempts, winning 90%. On top of his great performance, he would also collect 14 groundballs and score three goals on three shots. The senior is tied for fifth all-time among Tampa's weekly award winners. He remains third among men's lacrosse athletes.
Wood, Dickerson, and the rest of the Spartans will be back in action on Wednesday, as they will hit the road again, facing off against Rollins College in Winter Park. The matchup between the Spartans and Tars is set for 8:00 P.M.
