Spartans Down Knights in Regular Season Finale
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa Spartans faced the Lynn University Fighting Knights in the last regular-season game of the 2021 season. Tampa squeezed out a win to defeat Lynn for the second time this season. The Spartans, named SSC Champions a few days prior, would beat Lynn 12-10 to finish the season undefeated. This is the second year in a row Tampa has finished the regular season undefeated.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
FIRST QUARTER
Tampa hopped on the scoreboard just seconds into the game as Jack Wood put one up on Lynn. The Fighting Knights responded less than a minute later, tying the score 1-1 just over 1:20 into the game. Daniel Fitzpatrick would capitalize on a Spartan man-up opportunity, but the Spartans would not find the back of the net, nearly for the rest of the quarter, as Lynn went 3-0 until Jake Mosher McGraw would put one away to end the quarter. SECOND QUARTER
Off to a quick start yet again, Tampa evened out the score off a quick goal from Ben French, just 38 seconds into play. Richie Holle would add his name to the scoresheet, putting Tampa back in the lead. After a few minutes of scoreless play, despite several shots on both ends, Lynn again would go on a 3-0 run, bringing the Knights back into the lead by two points. French ended the quarter as he began, off an assist from Wood and finding the back of the net. || Lynn 7, Tampa 6
THIRD QUARTER
Coming out of halftime, the Spartans began to show their usual dominating presence as they scored four goals to open the quarter and would keep Lynn scoreless for the quarter until the last 15 seconds when Lynn was able to score on a man-up opportunity. The Knights would not see a score margin any closer than two points for the remainder of the game. || Tampa 10, Lynn 8
FOURTH QUARTER
Starting off the quarter the same way the other three began, Tampa would widen their lead with Fitzpatrick's fourth goal of the game. Lynn went on to respond with a goal before Wood scored his third goal of the game. While Lynn would yet again respond with one of their own, they would not be able to overcome the deficit, and Tampa would win the game. || Tampa 12, Lynn 10
