No. 21 Tampa Overpowers Warner 8-0 to Extend Win Streak to Four Games

LAKE WALES, Fla. - The #21 University of Tampa men's soccer team traveled to Lake Wales, Fla. to take on the Warner University Royals. The Spartans and Royals played out under rainy conditions and the match ended in an 8-0 victory for UT. 

In the first half, UT outplayed and outscored Warner as they scored four goals on just six shots on goal. The first goal did not take long to arrive as just six minutes in Troy Tucker scored for Tampa. The next two goals came in quick succession as Jason Collister and Bay Downing added their goals in the 19th and 22nd minutes of play. In the 35th minute, Fredinho Mompremier would add the fourth and final goal of the first half. 

The second half started much how the first half ended. In the 52nd minute, Lewis Sugden scored for Tampa. Mompremier would add his second tally of the night in the 65th minute. The offensive output would continue for the Spartans as Mike Ciluffo added a goal of his own from the penalty spot. The final goal of the night came from Curtis Kirby three minutes before the final whistle as he was assisted by Ciluffo.

Overall, Tampa simply overpowered the Royals on the night. UT had 21 shots total, with 15 of those being on target leading to eight goals. In the meantime, the defense held Warner to 10 shots total and just two on goal. For the second straight game, the team combined to hold the opponent scoreless.

The Spartans will be back in action on Saturday, September 17, when they travel to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. to take on Nova southeastern university at 7 p.m. to open conference play.
