Spartans Play to Draw With Embry-Riddle
Trailing 2-0, Spartans come back to force overtime.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla - The No. 7 ranked University of Tampa men's soccer team finished in a draw with Embry-Riddle University Saturday evening by a final score of 2 to 2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | The game was heavily dominated by defensive play. Tampa goalkeeper Richard Trench had four saves on seven shots. The Eagles outshot the Spartans seven to two and it eventually showed on the scoreboard. In the 19th minute, Felix Moller put one past Trench to give Embry Riddle a 1-0 lead. At the half, the Eagles would lead the Spartans 1-0.
2nd Half | Tampa's offense showed both on the field and on the scoreboard. The Spartans let up a quick goal in the 49th minute, extending the Eagles' lead to 2-0. Seconds later, Chris Dusabe would find the back of the net, putting the Spartans on the board and cutting the deficit to one. In crunch time, Fredinho Mompremier would tally the equalizer for Tampa, making it a 2-2 game. Tampa outshot Embry-Riddle 11 to 5 in the second half. At the end of regulation, Tampa and Embry Riddle headed to overtime tied at two apiece.
First Overtime | The two teams finished the first ten minutes still at a 2-2 draw. Tampa outshot Embry-Riddle four to zero in total shots during the first overtime period.
Second Overtime | In the second overtime, no winner would be found. Embry-Riddle outshot Tampa two to zero in the second overtime. Trench made one save in the final overtime to seal the draw. Trench finished with a total of eight saves on the evening.
INSIDE THE STATS:
• Tampa outshot Embry-Riddle 17-14, though the Eagles had a slight 10-9 edge in shots on goal.
• Trench, playing in just his third match of the season, finished with a season-high eight saves for the Spartans.
• Mompremier finished with eight shots, including three on goal. Dusabe and Bay Downing each had two shots on goal.
• The Spartans had six players go over 100 minutes on Saturday. UT also used 16 players in the 110-minute affair.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
• This marks the second tie of the season for UT, who also played to a 3-3 finish at No. 22 Rollins on Sept. 21.
• UT's leading goal-scorer, Mompremier has now scored in six of Tampa's eight games.
• Tampa has a home winning streak of 10 matches, dating back to September 3, 2015.
• The No. 7 ranking for Tampa is the highest since week two of the 2012 season when the Spartans held the same spot.
