Bay Downing Clinches First SSC Player of the Week After Record Setting Night
After 5 goals against Auburn-Montgomery, Downing won the first PoW award for the team this season
TAMPA, Fla. – For the first time this season, Junior Bay Downing earned Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week as the University of Tampa soccer team went 2-1 last week, with victories over No. 8 Barry and Auburn-Montgomery. The forward set a school record for goals in one game as he tallied five against Auburn-Montgomery.
In the two wins, Downing had six shots on goal, with all six being goals as he also recorded a score against Barry on Friday evening for the Homecoming game.
Through 12 games this season, the forward has seven goals and three assists. He has 17 points this season which places him third on the team in that category.
The award marks the first offensive honor for Downing this season as well as the first one overall for the men's soccer team.
