Tampa Drops SSC Contest to Eckerd
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's soccer team faced off against Sunshine State Conference opponent Eckerd College. The Tritons used two first half goals to defeat the Spartans 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | Through the first 10 minutes of the half, the Tritons dominated possession, taking some early shots with no goals. In the 16th minute, Eckerd played a ball over the top to their striker Agustin Pertusso, who found the back of the net on a half volley to give the Tritons a 1-0 lead. In the 39th minute, Eckerd's forward Blake Bauer scored after intercepting a pass in Tampa territory to give EC a 2-0 lead going into the half.
2nd Half | Tampa controlled most of the ball during the second half of the game. Mike Schessl gave the Spartans life in the 72nd minute, with a beautiful left-footed strike at the top of the 18-yard box. The Spartans had multiple chances to equalize, but Lyden Dawson had a couple of key saves in the dying minutes of the game to seal the Eckerd 2-1 victory.
