UT Men's Soccer Set to Welcome Alumni for Nova Southeastern Match
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's soccer team is set to square-off versus the Nova Southeastern Sharks in a matchup of Conference competitors halfway through SSC play.
The Matchup: University of Tampa Spartans (4-4-1, 2-2-1 SSC) vs. Nova Southeastern University 3-4-1, 0-3-1 SSC)
Date/Time: Saturday at 6 p.m.

About the Spartans: Tampa is coming off a draw on Wednesday away at Florida Southern. The 1-1 tie was a tale of two teams as Tampa had 7 shots (2 on goal) in the contest, whereas Florida Southern had 30 shots (16 on goal). Tampa goalkeeper Jake Richards was superb in the contest, recording a career-high 13 saves (previous high was 7). Amgad Salah scored the lone Spartans' goal in the first half. UT looks to earn their first win of the month against the Sharks. Last time the Spartans were home they defeated Embry-Riddle 5-1. The September, 28 game against the Eagles was the best game for the Spartans offensively. #13 Rojay Smith leads Tampa's attack with 5 goals and 4 assists on the season, both of which lead the team.
About the Sharks: Nova Southeastern is currently winless in conference play, sitting in last place overall in the SSC. In the Shark's three victories this season, all against out of conference opponents, they have a goal differential of 18-0. However, in four conference games, NSU has a goal differential of 2-8. Most recently, the Sharks lost on the road 3-2 against #24 Palm Beach Atlantic. Aside from an own goal, Juanchi Nunez scored his first goal of the season for Nova Southeastern. 13 different Nova Southeastern players have scored for the Sharks this season. Look for the Sharks offense to function through Junior Sebastian Loibl. The 6'3 forward from Hutthurm, Germany leads the team in shots/shots on goal and assists. In 2018 the Sharks went 12-4-1 (7-2-1 SSC).
All-Time Series: Tampa owns a convincing 18-6-4 record all-time against the Sharks. Tampa is also 8-1-1 in the last ten meetings against NSU. Last time the two squads faced Nova Southeastern won 1-0 in Ft. Lauderdale (September 15, 2018). It was Nova Southeastern's first victory vs UT since 2007.
