UT Alum Ramzi Toure Signs With Norwegian Professional Team
TAMPA, Fla. - Former University of Tampa defender Ramzi Toure has agreed to a two-year contract with IL Hødd of the Norwegian Post Nord Professional League.
Toure, who hails from Oslo, Norway, previously played for the Oslo club Oppsal before attending Tampa. He was on trial in Hødd in the previous week and was also in action against Molde FK at Aker Stadium in this year's first training match.
Head coach Kevin Knappen says "Ramzi Toure Idrissou has signed a 2-year contract with Hødd. He grew up in Oslo, with parents from Togo. He is a positive guy who chose to move to the United States early, where he saw a better opportunity to combine sports and education. With Ramzi, we get a powerful midstop of 195cm, a strong duel player with good speed."
Toure comments "I am incredibly happy to be part of such a historic club as Hödd. I am eager to get started with the team. Hødd has clear plans and I want to contribute what I can for the club to reach its goals."
Toure was a two-time All-Sunshine State Conference selection while playing for head coach Adrian Bush at UT from 2015-18. The defender played in 67 career matches for the Spartans, totaling three goals and an assist. He departed Tampa as the program's all-time leader in career minutes with 6,097.
