Spartans and Conquistadors Make for an Exciting Tuesday Night
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa Men's Soccer Team will face off against Florida National in a showdown of high-level Florida schools.
The Matchup: University of Tampa Spartans (6-6-1, 4-4-1 SSC) vs. Florida National (10-3-1)
Date/Time: Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Location: Pepin Stadium || Tampa, Fla. || 417 North Boulevard, Tampa, Fla. 33606
About the Spartans: Tampa has improved their record to a .500 W/L percentage for the first time since September 28th after a key 1-0 victory vs. Rollins on Saturday. The shutout against the Tars was the Spartan's first clean-sheet of the season. Captain goalkeeper Jake Richards had 6 important saves in the contest. The senior, Richards, is currently on pace to become Tampa's all-time leader in saves at the end of the season. Travis Foster came off the bench to score the game-winner for the Spartans. Foster, a sophomore, has two goals and two assists this season. UT has won their last two games after going winless in their previous four. Tampa men's soccer is 4-3 at home this season. Look for coach Adrian Bush to make some changes to the starting line-up as they face an out-of-conference opponent on two-day's rest.
About the Conquistadors: Florida National are coming off a lopsided 5-0 victory against the University of the Virgin Islands last Saturday. It was the Conquistadors second-time facing UVI this season, with the first being a 6-2 victory on the road on October 12th. Key victories for Florida National have occurred this season versus Baker University, LSU Shreveport, and the University of West Alabama. The only common opponent Florida National has played (non-exhibition) are the Thomas (Ga.) Night Hawks. The Conquistadors lost to the Night Hawks 3-0. The Spartans beat the Night Hawks 4-3 in 2OT. Florida National are averaging 2.5 goals per game, while only allowing1.10 per contest.
All-Time Series: This is the first-ever men's soccer match-up between these two programs.
