Tampa Dominates at Home to Earn First Win of the Season

TAMPA, FLA. – The University of Tampa men's soccer team dominates at home to earn first win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

FIRST HALF: The game began with the Lakers putting pressure on the Spartans early, recording shots on goal within the first five minutes. Theo Maye continues to impress, as he netted a beautiful goal off a free kick in the 14^th minute of the match to open the scoring. About two minutes later, defender Pol Aldabó netted his first goal as a Spartan to build the Tampa lead. The Spartan defense made some exceptional saves, with goalkeeper Agustin Lombardo leaving his net on a few occasions to bat chances away. Late in the half, Robert Taylor's cross in front of the net found Christian Fairchild who put it in the back to the net. After a dominate first half effort, Tampa had a comfortable three goal lead.

SECOND HALF: The second half opened up with the Tampa defense continuing to play well. In the 54^th minute of the matchup, Viggo Svedin recorded his first goal as a Spartan to build the lead to four goals. Tampa's early push and great defensive play throughout the match would prove too much for the Lakers to handle.
