Spartans Comeback Against Barry to Return to Winning Ways

TAMPA, Fla. — The University of Tampa men's soccer uses second half burst to come from behind against Barry.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

First Half: 

The Spartans started well and were able to put some early pressure on the Bucs, but to no avail. The Bucs would find their footing in the middle of the half eventually leading them to the first goal of the game in the 29th minute. Alex Hare made three saves in the first half as all of Barry's shots were on frame. Tampa was able to apply more pressure after conceeding, but were unable to direct their shots on net.

Score: 1-0 Barry 

Second Half: 

Tampa was quickly on the back foot as much of the first 15 minutes of the half was spent in the Spartans' half of the field. Tampa would then turn the tables, and start applying pressure that led to the game-tying goal in the 69th minute courtesy of Dion Ruffo Luci. Tampa kept the pressure on which earned them a penalty kick five minutes later which was converted by Rodrigo Lopes. Tampa would finish strong to prevent Barry from sniffing a late equalizer.

Final Score: 2-1 Tampa  

INSIDE THE STATS:

• Hare recorded 5 saves in net, the third time he's recorded at least 5 saves this season.
• Lopes netted his 5th game-winning goal of the season.
• The Spartans defense only allowed 1 corner kick for the Bucs.
• A season high 10 different Spartans recorded a shot.
