Spartan Men Continue to Lead While Women Closing In on Sharks
CLEARWATER, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams continued competition at the 2020 Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships as its men remain first through three of four days while the women cut into first-place Nova Southeastern's lead heading to the final day.

MEN'S TOP PERFORMERS:
- A new SSC Championship meet record, school record, and a first place finish was recorded by senior Brian Valedon in the Men's 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:45.33. Gabe Parnell placed third with a time of 1:48.18.
- The Spartans finished the evening with a new school record and first-place finish by the Men's 800 Freestyle A Relay of Yannick Smith, Hugo Bustamante, Brett Saunders and Jared Fitzgerald with a time of 6:31.72.
WOMEN'S TOP PERFORMERS:
- Freshman Julia Augustsson set a new school record and placed second in the Women's 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:02.30. Fellow Spartan Elizaveta Bazarova placed third with a time of 1:02.47.
- Another new school record and first-place finish was registered by sophomore Courtney Sherwood in the Women's 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:59.17.
- A first-place finish came from the Women's 800 Freestyle A Relay of Maureen Moore, Megan Goldthorpe, Bazarova and Hana van Loock with a time of 7:25.07.
