Lauren Fantone Named to NFCA All-Region Team
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has announced the 2021 NFCA Division II All-Region teams, including University of Tampa freshman outfielder Lauren Fantone as a member of the second team. This year's squads are comprised of 208 student-athletes from 114 programs.
Fantone, a true freshman from DeLand, Fla., has been a mainstay in the Spartans lineup since day one. The left-handed hitter led Tampa in hitting with a .368 batting average while leading UT to an 18-4 regular season. She also notched team-highs of 21 hits, 11 runs and three stolen bases while carrying a .400 on-base percentage. She also drove in 10 runs for the Spartans.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's eight regions with first and second-team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2021 NFCA Division II All-America squads. The 2021 NFCA Division II All-American teams will be announced on Tuesday, May 25.
