Spartans Hold Off Palm Beach Atlantic on Gasparilla Saturday
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's basketball team (14-3) cruised to a 67-57 win over Palm Beach Atlantic (1-21). Brittany Ridley followed up her 12-point performance against Florida Southern with a career-high 14 points.
The Spartans controlled the flow of the game for much of the
afternoon, despite surrendering the lead to the Sailfish for a
portion of the first half prior to entering the break tied at
29.
Tampa opened the second half with a 15-4 run in the first five and
a half minutes of the half. The Spartans made it a double-digit
lead for good after a pair of free throws by Ridley at the 9:53
mark. The Sailfish outscored the Spartans 14-13 in the last eight
minutes to close out the game.
Erica Woodard led the Spartans with 18 points, and pulled down 11
rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Sheena Walton
led Tampa with 13 rebounds as Alexa Kane scored 11 points, all in
the second half.
Tampa returns to the floor on Wednesday as it travels to Boca Raton
to face off against Lynn in a Sunshine State Conference matchup.
Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
