Women's Basketball Continues SSC Success by Downing Barry Buccaneers
Fort Lauderdale, FL. – The University of Tampa Women's Basketball team remains on top of the SSC conference as they run away with the win over Barry University.

All-Time Series: Tampa leads in the all-time series 49-25. The Spartans longest winning streak was 10 games between 2014-2017.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Quarter | Barry was the first team on the board to open the game. For Tampa, LaShayla Wright-Ponder was the first Spartan to put up points. Barry's defense came out strong and had Tampa trailing for the whole quarter. The Buccaneers grabbed six offensive rebounds and scored six second chance points. || Tampa 12, Barry 16
2nd Quarter | Dori Nagy came into the second quarter hot as she helped the Spartans gain their first lead of the game. Both teams were putting the ball in the basket as there were four lead changes. Barry knocked down three consecutive three-pointers which gave them a five-point lead back. As the half ended, Nagy was the leading scorer for Tampa with nine points and four rebounds. || Tampa 27, Barry 30
3rd Quarter | Tampa could not get much going as they only shot 40 percent from the field. Nagy was the only Spartans on the board in the third quarter besides two free-throws by Kris Nelson. As Barry went on a 6-0 run, Tampa had a three-minute scoring drought. The quarter ended with Tampa down by two. || Tampa 39, Barry 41
4th Quarter | As a team, the Spartans got their hot shooting going again as Julia Ingram started the final quarter with a three-pointer. Wright-Ponder then jump-started a 6-0 run for Tampa that gave them a two-point lead. In the final minutes, Melijah Sullivan carried Tampa on a 18-2 run and closed the game out on top by 11. || Tampa 62, Barry 51
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Dori Nagy was the leading scorer with 19 points, eight rebounds, and one block and steal.
- LaShayla Wright-Ponder also scored in double-digits with 14 points and nine rebounds.
- Melijah Sullivan was a great asset towards the end as she scored all 12 of her points in the fourth quarter.
- Tampa scored 40 of their points in the paint.
- Four starters grabbed at least five rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- Tampa remains undefeated in the Sunshine State Conference.
- Julia Ingram grabbed a career-high of five rebounds.
