Fall Slate Complete as Tampa Women’s Golf Finishes Eighth at Saint Leo Invitational
DADE CITY, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's golf team closed out a competitive field at the Saint Leo University Invitational, finishing eighth overall at the Lake Jovita Country Club. The Spartans carded rounds of 296, 300, and 309 for a three-day total of 905 (+41) on the par-72, 6,132-yard layout.
Anderson (S.C.) claimed the team title at 858 (-6), followed by Florida Southern (+14) and Barry (+18) to round out the top three teams in the 11-team field.
Leading the way for Tampa was Kat Brictson, who continued her strong fall season by tying for 10th individually with a total of 221 (+5). Brictson opened the tournament with an impressive 2-under 70 before adding rounds of 74 and 77.
Close behind was Maria Mora, who turned in a consistent performance across all three rounds to tie for 13th at 222 (+6). Mora's steady play included scores of 75-73-74 to finish inside the top 15 against a nationally competitive field.
Ruth Toennessen followed in a tie for 30th at 227 (+11), showing solid improvement across the tournament's middle rounds with back-to-back 75s after an opening 77. Kelly Shanahan placed tied for 49th with rounds of 74-78-83 (235, +19).
Justine Bayle was registered in the Tampa lineup, but did not compete in the tournament due to an injury.
Competing as an individual, Annie Betts finished tied for 37th after posting rounds of 77, 74, and 80 (231, +15), highlighted by her even-keeled second round. Silvia Barnes also competed as an individual, coming in 58th at 245 (+29).
