8 Spartans Named All-SSC, Cece Colombo, Alyssa Romano and Alex Walling Earn Major SSC Awards
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Thirty-four student-athletes are recognized as All-Conference following the 10th season of Sunshine State Conference women's lacrosse. Tampa, the 2024 SSC Tournament Champions, collects 11 awards, including Midfield Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Goalkeeper of the Year. Voting for the All-SSC Women's Lacrosse Team was conducted among the league's head coaches.

Jackie Stoller from Florida Southern collects Attack Player of the Year accolades. The Wayland, Massachusetts, product ranks first in SSC points per game (6.00), second in shots per game (6.79), third in goals per game (3.84), and fourth in assists per game (2.16). Over 19 contests this season, the graduate student accumulated 114 points off 73 goals and 41 assists with a .588 shooting percentage. Stoller, the 2023 SSC Player of the Year, is the first to collect the conference's Attack Player of the Year honor.
Tampa's Cece Colombo is tabbed the first SSC Midfield Player of the Year by league coaches. The Waxhaw, North Carolina native amassed 57 points following 27 goals and 30 assists in 18 games. Colombo also gave the Spartans 122 draw controls, 36 groundballs, and 22 caused turnovers. She ranks second in SSC draw controls per game (6.78), sixth in assists per game (1.67), and eighth in groundballs per game (2.00).
Alyssa Romano and Alex Walling of Tampa are named the first Defensive Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year in SSC women's lacrosse history. Romano, an Ocean City, Maryland native, tallied 70 draw controls, 20 groundballs, and 15 caused turnovers in 18 starts. Walling, a San Diego, California product, totaled 128 saves in her nearly 900 minutes between the posts in 2024. She led the SSC in save percentage (.510) and goals against average (8.31) and was second in saves per game (7.11). Romano and Walling piloted a Tampa defense that led the SSC in goals against (8.4) and contributed to a league-best scoring margin (+7.6).
Freshman of the Year winner Eliana Enners, a midfielder from North Hampton, New Hampshire, led Embry-Riddle in goals (62), points (82), shots (114), draw controls (87), and ground balls (49) this season. Enners ranks third in SSC groundballs per game (2.71), fourth in shots per game (6.29), fifth in goals per game (3.29), fifth in draw controls per game (5.00), and seventh in points per game (4.29). Enners is the first Eagle to win Freshman of the Year accolades.
Caitlin Hansen is selected Coach of the Year by her peers after leading Saint Leo to its top SSC performance in program history. Saint Leo finished 5-2 in league play, earning the #3 seed in the conference tournament and picking up the program's first SSC postseason win. The Lions are currently listed at No. 14 in the nation by the IWLCA and have received five consecutive Top-25 rankings. Hansen is the first from Saint Leo honored as Coach of the Year in women's lacrosse.
Caroline Gastonguay of Rollins, Madison Tare of Florida Southern, and Colombo highlight the repeat All-SSC winners in 2024. Gastonguay, the 2022 Player of the Year, becomes the fifth women's lacrosse athlete named First Team All-SSC four times during their career. Tare and Colombo become the 10th and 11th women's lacrosse athletes to earn three First Team accolades during a career. A total of 16 players repeat as All-SSC in 2024, including two former Players of the Year and three former Freshman of the Year.
