
Tampa Edges Lander In Overtime

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Playing in its first overtime match of the 2010 season, The University of Tampa (5-1) women's soccer team played to a 2-1 victory over Lander University (4-3). The game was played at Columbus State University.
Trailing 1-0, freshman Alyson Gregorowicz evened the score with a goal for UT in the 59th minute. Courtney Peffley assisted the score after Tampa had been trailing for the previous 28 minutes.
In overtime, Luana Miessa netted her fifth goal of the season from leading scorer Jazmin Perry. Peffley was also credited with an assist on the game-winner.
Freshman Leah Cesanek finished with three saves in goal for Tampa, which outshot Lander 18-5 on the day. 10 of UT's shots were on goal.
UT returns to the field on Thursday in its Sunshine State Conference opener at Saint Leo University. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Live stats will be available through www.tampaspartans.com.
