Tampa Ready to Take on NSU to Begin Conference Play

The Spartans will host Nova Southeastern in their first SSC match of the year

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa Women's soccer team will take on the Nova Southeastern University Sharks on Saturday, September 17 at 7 p.m. to open Sunshine State Conference play for this season. The Spartans will be looking to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat to #22 Armstrong State midweek while the Sharks are coming off a 2-0 victory over Florida Southern in their first SSC game on Wednesday. 

Overall, NSU is led on offense by four players who have scored two goals each and with all four accounting for one game winner each as well. In net, Ida Norstrom has seen the most action in net and tallied 19 saves while conceding only two goals. In the game against Florida Southern, Nichole Poppe led the way as she scored the two goals for the team with all five of her shots being on goal. In the meantime, Norstrom played all 90 minutes in net and had four saves.

Tampa's goals have been scored by Nastasia Asgedom, Meg Beidleman, and Lauren Cicero. In net, Sydney Ross has played every game so far and has tallied 14 saves this year. The last time that these two teams met was in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament last season in Miami Shores, Fla. The game ended tied after regulation and overtime and UT won in penalty kicks.
