Spartans Battle to Scoreless Draw at Saint Leo
Saint Leo, Fla. — The University of Tampa women's soccer team earned a hard-fought point on the road Wednesday night, playing to a 0–0 draw against Saint Leo in Sunshine State Conference action.
Tampa controlled much of the match's rhythm, particularly in the second half, outshooting Saint Leo 11–8 and generating a 9–3 advantage in corner kicks. Despite numerous attacking chances, the Spartans were unable to find the back of the net as both defenses stood tall through 90 minutes of play.
Senior goalkeeper Lia Doohan delivered another composed performance in net, making four saves to secure her fourth shutout of the season. Up front, Tara McDonald led the Spartans with four shots (one on goal), while Ally Wold, Brooke Kittner, and Jess Brannon each tested the Saint Leo keeper with shots on frame.
Defensively, Tampa's back line—anchored by Lauren Holschauer, Kendall Gouner, and Jess Brannon—kept the Lions' attack in check, limiting them to just one shot in the second half.
With the draw, Tampa moved to 5-5-4 overall, continuing its strong defensive form as the regular season nears its conclusion.
