Midway Mark of NCAA Championships Has Tampa Among Competitors
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Halfway through the 2013 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships, the University of Tampa men are No. 14 and the women No. 16 with two days remaining.
The Spartan men now have a total of 55 points, trailing leader and defending national champion Drury (258). The UT women have tallied 51 points as Drury (237.5) also leads on the women's side.
Tampa's men's 200 Free Relay placed ninth as Khalid Aldaboos, Felipe Manzo, David Humphrey and Derek Krell finished in 1:21.08.
UT also had individual finishes from Zane Hranac in the 400 IM (16th, 4:00.66) and Norbert Kovacs in the 100 Fly (13th, 49.20). The men's 400 Medley Relay was second in the consolation final with a time of 3:18.06 from Karl Burdis, Kevin Doran, Kovacs and Humphrey.
In women's action, Catherine Parker was 14th in the 100 Fly Catherine Parker (56.45) while All-American Heather Glenday won the consolation final in the 200 Free (1:49.69) as Kristine Kassl was fourth (1:51.59) in the same event.
The Spartan women's 400 Medley Relay was 15th with a showing of 3:50.63. The team consisted of Alexandria Greenhill, Alex Hipolito, Parker and Kylie Piche.
Day three of action will begin at 10 a.m., for the prelims as the finals are slated for 5:30 p.m. The day will feature the 500 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 200 Fly and 800 Free Relay.
