Spartans Dominate Home Opener Against Florida Southern

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa swimming teams opened their 2025–26 home schedule with a commanding sweep over Florida Southern College on Friday night at the Benson Riseman Aquatics Center. The top-ranked Spartan women and No. 2-ranked men both overpowered the visiting Mocs, who entered the meet ranked No. 21 (women) and No. 12 (men) nationally.

Top Performers (Men)

• 400 Medley Relay: Rufus Bernhardt, River Streefland, Nick Cavic, and Jacob Hamlin dominated in 3:13.81.
• 1,000 Freestyle: Elliot Weisel led a Tampa sweep in 9:22.24.
• 200 Freestyle: Hamlin took first in 1:36.91.
• 100 Backstroke: Bernhardt led the way in 48.53.
• 100 Breaststroke: Streefland earned the victory in 54.49.
• 200 Butterfly: Cavic surged to first in 1:47.26.
• 50 Freestyle: Alfredo Dominguez won in 20.76.
• 100 Freestyle: Dominguez added another title in 45.14.
• 200 Backstroke: Josh Noll led a 1-2-3 Tampa sweep in 1:48.31.
• 200 Breaststroke: Britton Spann claimed the top spot in 2:02.14.
• 500 Freestyle: Hamlin picked up his second victory of the night with 4:26.87.
• 100 Butterfly: Dominguez completed his sprint triple with a win in 49.57.
• 400 IM: Cavic closed the meet with a win in 3:58.86.
• 200 Freestyle Relay: Tampa was second with a time of 1:23.00 from Riccardo Pandin, Dominguez, Tristan Bonnet-Eymard and Noll.

• 400 Medley Relay: Avery Frece, Stephanie Vogt, Madalee Roberts, and Chloi Harper opened the meet with a win in 3:40.45.
• 1,000 Freestyle: Laura Hodgson led a 1-2-3 Tampa finish with a 10:15.25.
• 200 Freestyle: McKenna Patrick claimed the win in 1:49.60.
• 100 Backstroke: Kim McCaffrey touched first in 56.16.
• 100 Breaststroke: Caroline Foltz led the field in 1:03.36.
• 200 Butterfly: Burlingtyn Bokos took the win in 2:01.56.
• 50 Freestyle: Sara Safranko sprinted to victory in 23.59.
• 100 Freestyle: Patrick earned her second win of the meet in 50.93.
• 200 Backstroke: Carlie Tyler was first in 2:00.86.
• 200 Breaststroke: Caroline Byers claimed the win in 2:17.91.
• 500 Freestyle: Hodgson notched her second distance victory in 4:58.01.
• 100 Butterfly: Sofia Krstolic led another sweep with a 56.36.
• 400 IM: Foltz capped the night with a win in 4:28.76.
• 200 Freestyle Relay: Laney Jones, Chloi Harper, Patrick, Darcy Highmore won with a time of 1:35.05.
