Mocs Slip Past Spartans in SSC Match
Tampa took two of the match's three doubles events.
LAKELAND, Fla. – The University of Tampa tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to Sunshine State Conference opponent and No. 33 Florida Southern College on Thursday.

- Tampa took two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead to singles play.
- The number-two doubles team of Lilley Nice and Maddie Stephens won a 9-8 match, taking the tiebreaker by a 5-0 score.
- The three doubles team of Ava Sowell and Danielle Beyes won 8-6.
- Nice won a three-set match at number-three singles, topping her opponent 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.
- Stephens was the second Spartan to win in singles, defeating her number-four opponent 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Stephens is a perfect 7-0 in singles play this season. The sophomore is 4-0 at number-four and also won three matches at the UT invite to open the regular season.
- Nice is a perfect 4-0 in dual match singles play.
