Spartans Host Barry for Last Home Game of the Season
UT will play the Bucs twice this week in a rescheduled contest from earlier in the season.
TAMPA, Fla. – Hosting its final home game of the season, the No. 22 University of Tampa volleyball team will meet Barry University on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m.
The Matchup: No. 22 University of Tampa (19-6, 9-3 SSC) vs. Barry University (14-10, 6-5 SSC)
• The Spartans still hold a commanding lead as the top offense in the Sunshine State Conference, attacking at a strong .251 team clip. Barry ranks fourth in the SSC with a .205 attack percentage.
• Defensively, the Bucs have the advantage with 2.10 blocks per set as a team. The Barry roster has six athletes that are at least 6'0 and the team is led by senior middle blocker Ivana Didanovic.

Last Time Out: UT battled Florida Tech to a 3-1 win on Saturday to earn its 19th win of the season. Junior Molly McAlvany blasted a career-best 15 kills in the win while middle blocker Alexandra Misca notched eight kills and five blocks for the Spartans. Libero Logan Holanchock picked up her 1,000th career win, finishing the match with 21 total digs.
About the Spartans: Tampa has relied on its bevy of offensive weapons of late, as junior McAlvany and sophomore Gen Beaumier have stepped up for UT. Outside hitter McAlvany has blasted 27 kills in her last three games while right side Beaumier has added 18. Freshman Taylor Fosler has hit .442 over the past three games with 19 kills 12 blocks. Holanchock remains affixed in the UT back row, following up her stellar freshman season with 410 digs as a sophomore. Setter Jen Aprile has provided a solid compliment on defense with 49 digs across 11 sets (4.45 digs per set).
About the Buccaneers: Barry freshman Kristina Filimonova has had a monster first campaign, as the middle blocker leads the SSC in attack percentage with a .360 clip and ranks third in blocks per set with 0.98. Jaeda Allen has the team-lead in kills with 306.
Series History: Tampa owns the all-time series with a 49-16 overall record. The Spartans have won the past 14 meetings, including a season sweep in 2015.
Tickets: Tickets for are $5 for adults, senior citizens and coaches. Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
