Spartans Round Out the Season Ranked No. 24
The UT volleyball team closed out the 2016 season as the No. 24-ranked team in Division II, as announced by the AVCA in the final poll of the year.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – In the final American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Coaches Poll, the University of Tampa finishes out the year ranked No. 24 in the nation, as released Monday by the association office.
The 2016 National Champions, Concordia St. Paul received the No. 1 rank in the poll after a 3-0 sweep of Alaska-Anchorage earned the Golden Bears their eighth national championship. The Seawolves conclude their first Elite 8 appearance as the national runner up and sit No. 3 in the latest release. Central Region finalist Southwest Minn. State sits No. 2 after falling the regional final to eventual champion CUSP.
South Region winner Palm Beach Atlantic sits No. 6 in the final poll of the year, returning to the Elite 8 for the second time in program history.
Tampa finishes the season with its 283rd consecutive ranking in the AVCA poll, an active program record. The streak ranks second to fellow Division II power Central Missouri, as the Jennies concluded the year as the No. 19 ranked program.
