Volleyball Preview: Tampa Hosts Mini Crossover
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa volleyball team will host a Mini Crossover that will include the likes of No. 19 West Florida, Valdosta State, and Florida Southern.
ABOUT THE SPARTANS
- Tampa is a perfect 6-0 on the season heading into the weekend.
- The program moved up three spots to No. 3 in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll.
- The Spartans have only dropped two sets in their six matches played.
- Connor Rahn, Nathaly Perez, and Tess Schrenger each have recorded over 50 kills.
- Rahn is averaging 3.44 kills per set.
- Ana Rivera has totaled 52 digs, which is second on the squad behind Schrenger's 57.
- Jenna Davis and Rachel Gregg have combined for 40 blocks over 37 sets played.
SCOUTING VALDOSTA STATE
- Valdosta is 1-6 entering this weekend.
- Senior Katie Callenberger leads the team with 52 kills.
- Sabrina Oncins' 13 service aces are the most by any player in the GSC this season.
- Eimy Negron Domenech leads the defense with a team-best 86 digs and 4.30 digs per set, the third-highest rate in the GSC.
- Sophomore Avery Mullins 124 assists pace the team and is the seventh most recorded by a player in the GSC.
SCOUTING WEST FLORIDA
- UWF is No. 19 in the AVCA Coaches Poll.
- The Argonauts boast a 6-2 overall record.
- Gabi Moulton and Maddie Mire were recently named GSC Players of the Week.
- Moutlon posted a season-high 46 assists along with eight kills in a 3-1 win over Missouri Western.
- Mire anchored the Argonauts' defense, posting three double-digit performances.
- West Florida is coming off a loss but has won three of its last four, including a sweep over then-No. 7 Ferris State in the Colorado Premier Championship.
