UT Places Second at Mountain Dew Invitational
Spartans follow SSC opponent Saint Leo in 16-team field.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's cross country team competed at the University of Florida Mountain Dew Invitational, finishing second overall in the non-Division I scoring.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
UT Finish: 2nd, 101 points
Non-D1 Team Champion: Saint Leo, 47 points
D1 Team Champion: Florida, 30 points

OTHER NOTABLES:
• A pair of freshmen finished just outside the top-40 for Tampa as Eliana Ochoa (42nd) and Vera Rae Swardstrom (43rd) finished just seconds behind E. Cancello.
• A total of 16 non-D1 teams competed.
• In addition to UT and Saint Leo, Florida Tech and Florida Southern also represented the Sunshine State Conference. Providional members Embry-Riddle and Palm Beach Atlantic also competed.
• C. Cancello was the top finisher for the first time of 2016. The last time she led Tampa was at the 2015 NCAA Championships in Joplin, Mo.
• This marks the fifth consecutive year that UT has ran in the UF Invite.
