Aspen Gordon Named SSC Runner of the Week
MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa freshman runner Aspen Gordon has been recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Women's Runner of the Week following her first-place finish in her collegiate debut.
Gordon took first place overall at the Valdosta State Border Clash this past weekend. In her first collegiate event, the Morton, Ill., native bested teammate Sydney Rhodes by nearly 22 seconds for first place. The Spartans finished first of 10 teams in the event, which included three Top-10 programs in the USTFCCCA Southeast Region Preseason Coaches Poll.
Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of September 2-8, 2019. Athletes are nominated by Sports Information Directors of member institutions.
