Tampa Women's Cross Country Wins SSC Championship
Lakeland, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's cross country team claimed the 2025 Sunshine State Conference Championship at Holloway Park, capturing the program's latest conference title with a dominant team performance. The Spartans posted a winning total of 39 points and a combined time of 1:49:35 over the 6K course, edging Palm Beach Atlantic by just two points in one of the closest title races in recent years.
Junior Lindsey Volkman led the charge for Tampa with a runner-up finish, crossing the line in 21:37.0 to pace the field of more than 80 runners. Volkman ran the 16th fastest time in program history in the 6K. She was quickly followed by Camryn Sattler, who placed seventh in 21:52.9, and Taylor Guthrie, finishing eighth in 21:56.5, as the Spartans placed three runners inside the top 10.
Senior Hannah Diete added a strong showing with a 10th-place time of 22:00.2, while Kara Bergeron rounded out the scoring five in 12th place at 22:07.8. Abby Tudeen (14th, 22:10.5) and Campbell Caldwell (19th, 22:32.7) also turned in quality performances for Tampa's deep lineup.
This marks the 18th SSC Championships for Tampa women's cross country, and first since 2023.
Behind Tampa's 39 points, Palm Beach Atlantic (41) and Nova Southeastern (57) completed the podium.
