Tampa Looks to Bounce Back Against Post
TAMPA, Fla. – The top-ranked University of Tampa baseball team will welcome Post University (Conn.) for a three-day, three-game weekend series.
The Matchup: No. 1 University of Tampa Spartans vs. Post University Eagles
Dates/Times: Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m., Sunday at 1 p.m.

About the Spartans: The defending national champions are coming off a weekend opening series where they went 1-2 against regional opponents. Suffering setbacks to No. 7 Mount Olive and No. 15 Georgia College, the Spartans picked up their lone victory over Queens on Saturday. The Tampa offense is looking to improve on a weekend where it hit .177 as a team, with just one starter hitting over .300, and four coming in over .200 at the plate. Leadoff hitter Jose Cadenas was a bright spot at the plate, as the junior transfer from HCC is hitting .400 with four hits, including a double and home run. Championship Series Most Outstanding Player Jacinto Arredondo picked up where he left off in relief, throwing 5.0 innings with eight strikeouts, while picking up the win over Queens. The rotation will feature southpaw Brandon Knarr, following by Jordan Leasure, and Nik Constantakos. The three surrendered a combined 16 runs (13 earned) in 10.2 innings of work in the opening weekend, though Leasure did strike out eight opposing hitters in 4.0 frames.
About the Eagles: This marks the 2020 season opener for Post, who is a fellow NCAA Division II member from Waterbury, Conn. The Eagles are a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and coming off a 21-23 season with a 17-14 league record. Picked to finish third in the North Division of the CACC, the Eagles will be under the guidance of first-year head coach and former Eagles player, Ray Skjold.
Series History: This marks the first-ever meeting between the two opponents.
Tickets: Tickets for are $5 for adults, senior citizens, and coaches. Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
