Matthew Beddow Named SSC Defensive Player of the Week
MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa standout Matthew Beddow has been named as the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this season.
Beddow takes Defensive Player of the Week following his performances in Tampa's wins against Flagler (22-7) and No. 3 Lenoir-Rhyne (13-9). The San Diego product tallied a game-high four caused turnovers and picked up two ground balls as the Spartans held the Lenoir-Rhyne to their lowest scoring total this year. Against Flagler, Beddow picked up four ground balls for the Spartans and caused a turnover. The weekly award is the third of his career.
Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of February 13 - 19, 2023. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
