SSC Champs Lead Way With 7 All-Conference Selections
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The University of Tampa was heavily represented as seven of the 18 student-athletes selected to the 2022-23 All-SSC Men's Swimming Teams are Spartans. Voting for the awards was conducted among the Sunshine State Conference men's swimming coaches.
The University of Tampa, the 2023 SSC men's champion, is represented by three First Team award winners, including Santiago Corredor, Hayden Curley and Barnabas Fluck. Earning a spot on the second-team are Parker Knollman, Aramis Rivera and Tibor Tistan. Caleb Brandon was recognized as an honorable mention selection.
SSC Records / Top Times| All-SSC Teams
Matteo Zampese of Florida Southern and Jarryd Baxter of NSU highlight the repeat All-SSC award winners. The seniors both repeat as First Team All-SSC honorees from 2021-22. Lynn's Mohamed Masmoudi makes it three straight All-SSC honors and moves up to the First Team this season, following back-to-back Second Team honors in 2019-20 and 2021-22. Additionally, Masmoudi was named SSC Freshman of the Year in 2019-20. A total of nine men's swimmers repeat as All-SSC in 2022-23.
Tampa's Santiago Corrredor, a First Team award winner this season, was recently named the top male athlete at the 2023 SSC Championship. He is the second Spartan to win the conference's Swimmer of the Meet honor, first since 2019-20.
Coach of the Year, Swimmer of the Year, and Freshman of the Year will be voted on by league coaches following the NCAA Division II championship March 8th - Saturday, March 11th, at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis, Indiana. The NCAA recently announced championship selections and seeding. Sixty-nine swimmers and 33 relay teams qualified from the SSC. See more here.
