Tampa's Sydney Kin Named D2CIDA Women's Basketball Division II Player of the Week
AUGUSTA, GA - Tampa's Sydney Kin was named the Division II women's basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday by the D2CIDA. The senior center from Carey, Ohio, led the Spartans to a pair of wins, including an upset of the No. 7 team in the nation.
Kin averaged 25 points and 11 rebounds in the two victories, starting with 24 points and 13 boards as Tampa beat No. 7 Eckerd 84-79 in overtime. She followed that with 26 points and nine rebounds in an 80-53 win over Nova Southeastern. The two opponents had a combined record of 42-7 before playing Kin and the Spartans.
Kin shot 81% (21-26) from the floor on the week and added two assists and a block. The seven-time Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week leads the conference in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage and is second in blocked shots. She is also ranked second in NCAA Division II in field goal percentage.
