Tampa Women's Basketball Named Top Seed, Host of NCAA South Regional
INDIANAPOLIS - For the first time in program history, the University of Tampa women's basketball team has been awarded the NCAA Division II South Regional as the top seed in the region.
The regular season and tournament champion Spartans enter the NCAA tournament with an overall record of 30-1, which is a school record for wins in a season. UT also enters the tournament riding a school-record 19-game winning streak.
This is the fourth straight NCAA tournament appearance for the Spartans, and 15th in program history. Current head coach Tom Jessee is no stranger to the NCAA tournament, guiding his Spartans to 13 of the 15 in school history.
The South Regional will feature an 8-team field, with teams from the Gulf South Conference (GSC), Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the Sunshine State Conference (SSC).
Complete information on the regional may be found at the host web page. The site includes a full schedule for the South Regional, including links to each participating team, live stats, and video links.
