TAMPA, Fla.- The No. 18 University of Tampa Spartans (3-0) defeated the Southeastern University Fire (2-3) on Monday by a score of 7-0 at Pepin Stadium.
The Spartans had a dominating performance, as they fired 27 shots, with 13 coming on goal.
Amber Pennybaker put the Spartans on the board with a goal in the sixth minute of the game. Pennybaker took a pass from Lauren Moore in the box and was able to put it past the diving keeper. Pennybaker added another goal in the 68th minute and she also finished the game with two assists for the Spartans.
Kaley Ward also netted a ball in the 19th minute when she beat the keeper from 30 yards out.
Candice Shields, Lauren Moore, Chelsea Martin, and Lauren Cicero each added a goal for the Spartans.
The Spartan defense also put up a clean sheet, while allowing only one shot for the Fire.
UT is in action again on Friday, when it travels to St. Augustine, Fla., to take on Tusculum.
