Boston College No Match For Spartans

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's
and women's swimming teams welcomed Boston College to the UT
Aquatics Center on Friday and handed the Eagles a pair of
losses.
The Spartan men won by a score of 163-96 as the women also
claimed a lopsided 145.5-115.5 victory over BC.
Tampa's women began the meet with the first of two relay
titles as the 200 Medley Relay team of Catherine Bayes, Liz Penrod,
Emily Grams and Erin Plachy were the first to the finish line at
1:51.33.
UT would finish the women's portion of the day with a top
finish in the 200 Free Relay from Marisa Barton, Briana Murphy,
Amanda Fernandes and Plachy 1:40.53.
Barton also won a pair of individual races, pacing the 50 Free
(24.51) and 100 Free (53.75). Freshman Brittany Bayes also took
first in two races, including the 1,000 Free (10:48.08) and 500
Free (5:15.78).
Catherine Bayes also won the 100 Back (1:02.74) while Allison
Chandler claimed the 200 Back (2:13.66) and Sophie Long the 200 IM
(2:18.08).
The Spartan men also won their first event, taking the 200
Medley Relay with Jordan Augier, Clayton Clemens, Runar Borgen and
Khalid Aldaboos. The winning time was clocked at 1:33.30.
Borgen would also claim three first-place efforts in
individual races. The junior from Bodo, Norway captured the 100
Back (52.02), 200 Back (1:54.99) and 200 IM (1:57.43).
Jeremy Parker won a pair of races with first in the 200 Free
(1:43.18) and 100 Free (46.72). Aldaboos won the 50 Free (21.19)
and 100 Fly (52.22) as Alberto Orejuela also took two races in the
500 Free (4:46.09) and 1,000 Free (9:54.50).
Zane Hranac was the champion of the 200 Fly, as he was timed
at 1:54.91.
The Spartans will look to continue their success on Saturday
as they welcome Sunshine State Conference opponent Rollins College
for an 11 a.m., meet. This will mark the final home event for UT in
the 2014-15 season.
