#36 Tampa Dominates Montevallo
TIFTON, Ga. - The 36th-ranked University of Tampa women's tennis team capped off a perfect trip to Georgia with a 9-0 victory over Montevallo. The trip included wins over Augusta State and Montevallo in the two day span. The Spartans are now 3-1 on the season after UT took every set against Montevallo, who drops to 2-3 on the year.
Claire Darling and freshman Jessica Faber earned an 8-1 victory from the number-one doubles spot over Catie Cleveland and Kristi Kelly. The number two-team of freshmen Kourtney Stark and Jamie Lieberman were also victorious as were the three team of Lindsay Pine and Caitlin Scudder.
The Spartans continued their strong play in singles action as Montevallo failed to win more than two games in an individual set in all of singles play.
Erin Heeder handed Kelly a 6-2, 6-0 victory from the number one spot while Faber defeated Shasta Brown 6-1, 6-1. Lieberman earned the victory at the three spot while the final three positions were won by Scudder, Stark and Darling respectively.
UT returns home for a pair of matches this week, beginning with a meeting with Sunshine State Conference rival Florida Southern on Tuesday. The match is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
