Tampa Hands Eckerd Loss
TAMPA, Fla. - The 36th-ranked University of Tampa women's tennis team defeated Eckerd College in a non-Sunshine State Conference match by a score of 8-1. With the victory, the Spartans improve to 6-4 on the season while the Tritons drop to 1-4.
UT took all three doubles victories as the number-one team of Erin Heeder and Jessica Faber led the way with an 8-6 win. The number-two team of Kourtney Stark and Claire Darling was also victorious as was the three team of Caitlin Scudder and Allison Beck.
The lone Eckerd victory came at the number one singles spot as Faber registered an impressive 6-1, 6-0 victory at the two position. Lindsey McLendon won at number three while Stark posted a win at the four spot. Scudder and Beck were also successful at the five and six singles positions.
The Spartans return to action on Friday as they host Flagler in a 3 p.m. contest.
